Why Bossier Is a Terrible Place to Be if There’s a Nuclear Attack
Have you ever read an article and it left you completely unsettled? That's exactly what happened to me. 247WallSt.com just listed the worst places to be if there is a nuclear attack. Why was I surprised when Shreveport-Bossier made the list?
Shreveport-Bossier Is a Terrible Place to Be if There's a Nuclear Attack.
Shreveport-Bossier was listed in the Top 15 worst places to be if there is a nuclear attack because of what we have at Barksdale Air Force Base. The report from 247 WallSt.com said "Barksdale Air Force Base, which is within the Shreveport-Bossier metropolitan area east of Bossier city, is home to three squadrons of B-52H Stratofortress bombers, which are capable of flying at high subsonic speeds and can carry nuclear ordnance. The base is also the headquarters of the Air Force Global Strike Command, which is responsible for the nation’s three ICBM wings, and the Air Force Nuclear Command among others."
The Part That Freaked Me Out Was That the Report Listed Projected Casualties.
The projected casualty is listed as 24,150 deaths and 103,560 injuries. We are considered a "bomb over target". Due to those numbers, we are officially the 12th worst place in America when it comes to a nuclear attack.
What Is Shreveport-Bossier's Emergency Preparedness?
We have Louisiana’s Radiological Emergency Planning and Response however the basics that we all need to know, are simple. Get inside, stay inside and take off your clothes. Well, remove contaminated clothing.
Ready.Gov Has a List of What To Do If We Are Under Nuclear Attack.
You should familiarize yourself with the list because there were things I would have never thought of, like, hand sanitizer won't help you. "Remove contaminated clothing and wipe off or wash unprotected skin if you were outside after the fallout arrived. Hand sanitizer does not protect against fall out. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, if possible. Do not use disinfectant wipes on your skin." Check out the entire list of things to do by clicking here. Always be prepared.
