Primus made their return to Shreveport to celebrate with their new drummer and well-known Shreve-local, John "Hoffer" Hoffman. To celebrate the hometown hero, Les Claypool and Larry LaLonde felt it appropriate to give out free Primus memorabilia to fans as they came through the door. Find out why Shreveport is now obsessed with Hoffer's sunglasses.

Shades for Shreveport: A Nod to A New Drummer

If you've seen Hoffman play live in Shreveport before he was picked as Primus' new drummer, you probably noticed he was wearing sunglasses indoors, and likely while drumming. It's a unique look for sure and one that Les and Larry wanted Shreveport to share, which is why the band had free Primus sunglasses handed out to everyone who came through the doors when they opened.

In a world full of Funko Pops and Shaq's old college ID being sold as collectibles, it's fair to say a limited edition Primus concert exclusive set of sunglasses is pretty likely to hold some sentimental worth, especially for one Hoffer.

Hoffer Was a Racecar Driver

Shreveport was treated to a Primus concert that could likely never be replicated. At one point in the night, Hoffman teared up hearing his hometown cheer for him as Les Claypool gave him compliments and thanked Shreveport. Fans were also quick to cheer when Les told fans in attendance that Hoffer's won the band over and Shreveport is probably going to become a regular for the new lineup's touring schedule.

Hoffman was not just given the honor of being Primus' new third man, but a warm welcome from his hometown when Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux declared that July 29th is John Hoffman Day in the City of Shreveport.
